We are honoured and absolutely delighted to say that The Dulaig won the AA Award for Guest Accommodation of the Year for Scotland 2016-17! Here we are with our award which was presented at the lovely Landmark Hotel in London.
In March we received a letter telling us confidentially that we had won the award.....then came the hard bit of keeping the news quiet until the ceremony on 9 May!
We were nominated for the award by inspectors who incognito inspect and assess B&Bs all over the Uni...
We had a lovely surprise in the henhouse today, the first egg of the season from our flock of free-range hens.....and it is a blue-shelled one, laid by Hyacinth, a our Crested Cream Legbars.
Our 17 girls have been moulting over the past few months and because of this, and the shortest days of winter, they have not been laying eggs. It is always a great treat to see the first egg of the New Year as this means we - and our guests - can now look forward to lots of wonderful eggs once again...
We have some new hens at The Dulaig, two Rhode Island Reds which laid these pale cream eggs, and two Crested Cream Legbars. The first ever egg laid by Legbar Hyacinth is this beautiful little blue one.
The very large dark brown eggs are from two of our Cuckcoo Marans. No matter the shell colour we can promise you our eggs all taste delicious!
A relaxing evening at home in front of the fire with a lovely Speyside malt whisky, our home-made oatcakes, Connage cheese and a copy of "The Living Mountain", Nan Shepherd's wonderful book on The Cairngorms.....that is how we spent our New Year's Night at The Dulaig.
However you spent your evening we wish you all a very Happy New Year and best wishes for 2015!
Our guests at The Dulaig know how passionate we are about providing great breakfasts.
I have just made the latest batch of our own muesli, and here it is.
This variety is full of plump and gorgeous fruits, Scottish cereals, nuts, dates, crunchy seeds....and the special finishing touch is a scattering of delicious pecans, oven-roasted in maple syrup. It is delicious, and even better served with our home-made yogurt.
Anyone fancy breakfast at The Dulaig??????
