Here is the little red squirrel which is currently working its way through our pine cones. It is responsible for the pile of stripped cones shown in my post of 20 July.
The squirrel is very cute....and very welcome at The Dulaig. I am glad we have so many cones for it to enjoy!
No, not a new Breakfast Special at The Dulaig....these cones are the remains of a special breakfast (and dinner) for a Red Squirrel!
The squirrel has eaten all this from one tree in our garden in just a couple of days and is out there right now tucking in. It is also tucked in amongst the branches right at the top of the pine tree so although I can see it I cannot get a good photo this morning so thought I would let you see the squirrel's handywork. Very neat nibbling, don't you think...
Here are Lois from Buchlyvie and Joanne from Milngave, two of our very many visitors enjoying seeing The Dulaig garden today for the first time as part of the Abernethy Open Gardens day.
We had a lovely time chatting to them, and to everyone else, about our plants - Stipa Gigantea grass particularly caught Joanne's eye!
Thank you to everyone who came along today. Your enthusiasm made it all worthwhile!
It has been our absolute pleasure to share our home, garden, love of Scotland and of food, with guests over the past 14 years. The experience of running our B&B exceeded our wildest dreams however we - Carol, Gordon (& The Cake Fairy) - have hung up our aprons for the last time.
Thank you to the wonderful guests from all over the world who have stayed with us. You have given us so many special memories which we will always treasure. Thank you too, everyone else who has supported us: your confidence in us was appreciated more than words can say.
Warmest Wishes to All, Carol, Gordon..and The Cake Fairy x
