The brilliant BBC "Winterwatch" is just about to start its 2019 series based, like The Dulaig, in the magnificent Cairngorms National Park.
More exciting still is that the Springwatch and Autumnwatch series will also be based in this area, enabling us all to follow the wildlife - including red squirrels, capercaillie, red deer, osprey etc - through the dramatic events and seasonal changes here. The programme will also showcase the incredible scenery of the area.
Here is the little red squirrel which is currently working its way through our pine cones. It is responsible for the pile of stripped cones shown in my post of 20 July.
The squirrel is very cute....and very welcome at The Dulaig. I am glad we have so many cones for it to enjoy!
No, not a new Breakfast Special at The Dulaig....these cones are the remains of a special breakfast (and dinner) for a Red Squirrel!
The squirrel has eaten all this from one tree in our garden in just a couple of days and is out there right now tucking in. It is also tucked in amongst the branches right at the top of the pine tree so although I can see it I cannot get a good photo this morning so thought I would let you see the squirrel's handywork. Very neat nibbling, don't you think...
