Shortbread Snowflakes!
The snow arrived in Grantown-on-Spey this week, inspiring The Cake Fairy at The Dulaig to make these delicious Shortbread Snowflakes for our guests.

This morning we awoke to this gorgeous scene in our garden.......the snow has arrived! For Hope, our little red-legged partridge hatched in summer, it is her first experience of snow lying but she sheltered in a dry spot in our fruit cage in the garden and is happily scratching around and eating this morning.

In my previous post I told of taking to a rescue centre a baby hedgehog we rescued, but the happy story does not end there.
Whilst at Munlochy Animal Aid I mentioned to Iona who runs the sanctury that in August we had had to say goodbye for the last time to Amber, our gorgeous 19 year old cat. We found this little hedgehog, our first Autumn Juvenile of the year, on our drive at The Dulaig last night. It looks in good condition but weighing only 400 grams it is highly unlikely to be able to put on enough weight to enable it to reach 750 grams before it hibernates for winter here in the Scottish Highlands. We kept it indoors overnight, fed it on catfood which it loved, and today took it for overwintering to Munlochy Animal Rescue about 60 miles away. We are lucky t...
