Local Activities
Leisure facilities are plentiful and varied in and around Grantown-on-Spey and the Cairngorms National Park. We are happy to provide suggestions for days out, with maps if you need them. Activities include golf, fishing on the River Spey, bird-watching rare species including the Osprey and Capercaillie, photography, hiking, climbing the Cairngorms and other mountain ranges, cycling (with an Electric Cycle Network nearby too)...or simply taking in the beautiful scenery. With little light pollution the night skies are wonderful for stargazing and occasionally the Aurora Borealis!
There are plenty of good places locally for meals and snacks.
The Dulaig is just a short walk from Grantown-on-Spey High Street where there is a range of small speciality shops including, amongst others, The Bookmark, a fabulous small bookshop with an incredible and varied stock, and Ewe-and-Me, a lovely gift shop always stocked with beautiful gifts.
Interested in whisky? Scotch Malt Whisky and Speyside Malt Whisky are world-famous and you can read more about them here
For castle-lovers The Dulaig B&B is very near many castles e.g Ballindalloch , Cawdor, Brodie, Drum, Urquhart, Braemar, and Balmoral to name just a few.
Throughout the year many brilliant events take place across Speyside. For example, if you are a car enthusiast why not come and enjoy Motormania here Grantown-on-Spey each September? For a day you can see hundreds of lovingly-tended vintage cars and chat to their owners too.... two of our guests even drove in their Morgan all the way from France to enter the event!
If you prefer motorbikes then Thunder-in-the Glens could be for you as each year in the last weekend of August thousands of Harley Davidsons ride into town - a magnificent spectacle and another great day out.
For those who wish to explore and enjoy the dramatic beauty of the Cairngorms National Park and wider Scottish Highlands The Dulaig Bed and Breakfast is ideal as a base. Aviemore is only 14 miles from us, the Moray Coast less than 25 miles and the North Coast 500 starts just 33 miles away: even the west coast is easily accessible from here - Ullapool, for example, is only 88 miles away.
