My husband and I were lucky enough to spend our wedding anniversary at The Dulaig and couldn’t have wished for a more special experience in every way.
Whatever I write about this wonderful place, with equally wonderful hosts, will do neither justice.Gordon and Carol are exceptional, delightful people. Amazingly generous hosts, who are clearly passionate about ensuring their guests have a happy and memorable stay, with attention to detail unsurpassed. It was so uplifting to receive such a genuine warm welcome on arrival, with tea and freshly made scones, to our departure, waved off from the front of the house - all just so special and unique.
The house and grounds are absolutely immaculate. The garden is lovely with summer house for guests to use, interesting and abundant wildlife, along with a variety of special breed hens providing delicious eggs. Everything is stylish and of great quality; the Arts and Crafts furniture and décor throughout so attractive and perfect for the beautiful house.
We had the Taylor room which was very peaceful and comfortable, with superb bed, quality, attractive bed linen, Hungarian goose down duvet and pillows, black out blinds, a silent fridge housing fresh milk, still and sparkling water, a tea tray with extensive range of tea, coffee, chocolate, plus a little tin labelled ‘a sweet treat’ with delicious, individually wrapped and obviously handmade, biscuits in the shape of a bird. We also had another treat - a daily delivery by the cake fairy on our return from exploring the local area. Because of Gordon and Carol’s guidance we were able to make good use of our time to find interesting places.
Our bathroom which overlooked the garden was a joy to use. Beautifully tiled and well equipped, with huge free standing roll top bath. There were lots of fluffy white towels, luxury toiletries, robes, slippers and even the choice of scented or unscented soap.
It is difficult to know where to begin to describe the fabulous, unbeatable breakfasts, with a ‘special’ added daily, to an already interesting and varied menu. Each morning was a voyage of discovery with cooked and fresh fruit, cereals and yogurt – all produced at The Dulaig. We appreciated everything, with the flavour and presentation of the Cornish Egg dish, hot smoked salmon with scrambled egg, cinnamon toasts, different types of delicious homemade bread and preserves, still in our minds.
For many years we operated a 5* Gold Bed and Breakfast with an award of the Best in Scotland and when travelling choose a B & B rather than hotel, so our expectations can be somewhat high. I can honestly say we have found an absolute gem and that there is nothing we consider could be changed or added, to improve this unique experience. Gordon and Carol well and truly deserve all the accolades attributed to them.
